The St. Joseph Kiwanis Foundation:
The St. Joseph Kiwanis Foundation was established in 1965 to provide financial aid to local students who are, or will be, pursuing undergraduate college or university degrees.  We entertain applications from local high school seniors, as well as students currently enrolled in a college or university who graduated from a local high school.  For purposes of the St. Joseph Kiwanis Foundation eligible local High Schools include St. Joseph, Lakeshore, Lake Michigan Catholic and Michigan Lutheran.  This includes local residents who have graduated from the above schools and are attending an undergraduate college, university or community college.

Annually, approximately thirty scholarships are awarded.  This number includes new and renewal awards.  Scholarship amounts range from $250.00 to $1,500.00 per year, depending upon need, and are made payable to the student.  Each year we award scholarships totaling approximately $30,000., and we have provided approximately $700,000. of financial aid since 1965.

Our scholarships are granted after careful review of completed applications and supporting material.  They are granted based upon academic achievement, citizenship, desire for higher education, attitude, and financial need.  A student's grade point average is not the most important factor in our decision.  From time to time we have provided a scholarship as that little pat on the back or positive push for a student who may not have outstanding grades or financial need.

Applications are available from each of the above high schools each spring or can be obtained by indicating an interest on the feedback form on this+ Web-site or contacting:

Liability arising out of the operation, use or maintenance of automobiles (including buses and trailers)
owned by the Named Insured (Our Club) is not covered.  If a Kiwanis Club owns an automobile or trailer it must be separately insured by the Club.
Liability arising out of a Kiwanis activity from the use of automobiles
owned by individual Kiwanians is covered but only as excess over the owner's (member's) personal insurance. Physical Damage, such as Comprehensive and Collision, is excluded.  In other words, as a member, if you damage your car on Kiwanis business your personal insurance will have to pay for that damage.
Liability arising out of the sale of alcoholic beverages is not covered.
